Baligh to take stakeholders into confidence on by-polls in 90 days

ISLAMABAD: In order to follow the Lahore High Court (LHC) orders, Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman Monday decided to take stakeholders into confidence on the matter of conducting elections in 90 days.

The Governor of Punjab has called an important meeting to address the said matter on Tuesday, February 14 at the Governor’s House in Lahore.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, decided to seek time from Punjab Governor to meet the committee on Tuesday for devising a future strategy regarding holding of provincial assembly elections.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Secretary has also been invited by the Governor’s House to the meeting to get some consultation on the date of the elections.

The committee headed by the Secretary ECP and comprising the Special Secretary and Director General Law will brief the Commission about the outcome of the meeting with the Governor.

The report said Punjab Chief Secretary and IG Police Punjab will also participate in the February 14 meeting at Governor’s House.
