US demonstrates favour to India, bias against Pakistan and china

ISLAMABAD: The US misses no opportunity to shower its favours on India and demonstrate its bias against Pakistan and China.

The same was witnessed when the US State Department neglected the recommendation of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) to designate India as “country of particular concern” due to attacks on the religious minorities in the country. Instead, it placed Pakistan and China in the list.

The USCIRF in its latest report maintained that religious freedom and related human rights in India are under jeopardy, and government policies do not safeguard the religious minorities. It said during the current year, the Indian government at the national, state, and local levels continued to promote and enforce policies that negatively affect Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Dalits, and Adivasis. The Commission has asked the US State Department for the last three consecutive years to designate India as “country of particular concern”.

However, the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, in a statement neglected the recommendation of the USCIRF and instead designated Pakistan and China among the list of such counties.

The list also includes Burma, Cuba, Eritrea, Iran, Nicaragua, the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea), Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
