Standing with Imran Khan ‘like a rock’: Sh Rashid

RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid has said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan will reach Rawalpindi next week before November 25, asserting he was standing with the former premier “like a rock”.

“Imran will announce the long march entry date to Islamabad on Saturday (tomorrow) and God willing it will begin by next Friday,” AML Chief Sheikh Rashid said while addressing a press conference at Lal Haveli here on Friday.

Criticizing the incumbent government, the former interior minister stated that the coalition partners had failed to run the country and were leading Pakistan towards default. “These people came through a deal and it is time they leave. Imran Khan’s demand is absolutely valid,” he added. Sh Rashid claimed the upcoming eight days were “very important.” The senior politician said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan will announce date on which he will reach Rawalpindi, adding that Imran Khan and other party leaders would be his guests at Lal Haveli.

Sh Rashid observed that country’s condition is becoming tense with every passing day and the masses want decisions. The former interior minister said Imran Khan’s demand for early elections in the country was legitimate as it was the only solution to steer the country out of prevailing crises. The AML chief also stated to accord warm welcome to Imran despite threats. “Our protest will be peaceful and no one will take the law into their hands,” he declared.

Commenting on the meeting between Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and President Dr Arif Alvi, Sh Rashid said he was also planning to meet the president.
