Govt, pharmaceutical companies agrees to increase price of paracetamol

Islamabad: The Finance minister and pharmaceutical companies on Wednesday discussed the retail price of paracetamol products.

According to the Finance ministry, Federal Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar in a meeting with heads of main pharmaceutical companies discussed the retail price of paracetamol products.

The pharma industry agreed upon the reduced prices of paracetamol 500mg tablets at Rs. 2.35, paracetamol extra 500 mg at Rs. 2.75 and Syrup at Rs. 117.6, which is almost half of the price increase demanded by them.

Production of paracetamol products has been started, the ministry of Finance added.

It is pertinent to mention here that there has been a shortage of paracetamol in the market and Medical stores are also selling per packet paracetamol upto Rs100.

According to one Medical Store owner doing business in Blue Area Islamabad, there are rumors that the company wants to increase per packet price of paracetamol around Rs40 rupee which is now Rs20 rupee.
