GUJRAT: The five-day Inter-Faculty (Men & Women) Sports Competitions 2022 ended here at Hafiz Hayat Campus of the University of Gujrat (UoG) with a glittering ceremony to award the winners.
Men and women players from various departments of all city campuses, as well as the sub-campus in Mandi Bahauddin, vied for honours in the arenas set for Badminton, table tennis, cricket and tug of war.
“Since it was the first such activity after COVID-19, the level of response and enthusiasm shown by the teams has been tremendous,” Sports Officer Nasira Parveen said while hosting a glittering prize distribution ceremony on Friday along with In-charge Sports Board Dr Muhammad Waseem Mumtaz.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Shabbar Atiq was the chief guest of the ceremony.
“Regular participation in such activities ensures our physical and mental wellbeing. The key lessons of tolerance, self-restraint and respect learnt in these arenas help us lead a more disciplined life,” Dr Shabbar Atiq said.
Dr Muhammad Waseem underscored the significance of sports in promoting toleration, courage and resilience.
Faculty of science won the cricket final. SADA teams were the runners up. Faculty of Computing & Information Technology sealed their victory in table tennis.
City Campus GT Road showed their ascendancy in Badminton.
Faculty of Social Sciences (women) teams sealed their victories in badminton and table tennis, with the City Campus Marghzar teams being the runners up. Faculty of Social Sciences (women) team won the tug of war final against the City Campus Fawara Chowk women. The vice chancellor awarded the winners.
