Speakers urge for professional development on teaching in higher education

GWADAR: A two-day national workshop was organized by the QEC UG in collaboration with the Department of Colleges, Higher and Technical Education Balochistan at university library.

The opening ceremony of the workshop was presided over by Prof. Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor of Gwadar University and Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Izzat Nazir Baloch was the chief guest. Faculty members from universities and colleges were attended the workshop.

Dr. Arif Naveed, Assistant Professor of Education and International Development at the University of Bath, England, was the resource person for the two-day workshop.

Addressing the participants in his opening remarks, the Pro Vice Chancellor UG welcomed the guests and participants and highlighted the importance of the workshop. He thanked the resource person Dr. Arif Naveed for participating in the workshop as resource person.
Resource person Dr. Arif Naveed said that Embedding Equality and Diversity into the Curriculum involves creating learning, teaching and assessment environments and experiences that actively eliminate discrimination.

The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony of the workshop was GOC 44 SSD Major General Inayat Hussain of Pakistan Army. Speaking on the occasion, Major General said that organizing this kind of workshop increases the competency of teachers. He urged the workshop participants to disseminate the knowledge gained during the workshop and continue the chain. The GOC also emphasized the need to promote a culture of quality and authentic research in educational institutions and universities. He said that if the foundations of our educational institutions are strong today, the future of our generations will be secured.

The GOC also highlighted the need for student mobilization and exchange programs to reap maximum benefits from the outreach programs of universities and educational institutions in Pakistan and abroad and highlighted the role of teachers as a key in this regard. Later, the GOC appreciated the organizers and participants for the successful conduct of the National Workshop and described it as an excellent opportunity for theoretical and practical education and training for teachers.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir (Vice-Chancellor Gwadar University) presided over the concluding session. He appreciated the efforts of Director QEC Dr Kamber Farooq and his team under the dynamic guidance of Pro Vice Chancellor for the first time organized such workshop. and he also congratulated all workshop participants for the participation.

Speaking on the occasion VC UG said that all of us know that good teacher knows the proper methods to teach and guide students in the right direction, as well as understanding the theoretical and conceptual knowledge of the subject they teach. Such types of workshops definitely help the faculty in staying updated on the latest methods and process being followed in the classroom.

At the end of session, VC UG distributed commemorative souvenir of the university to the distinguished guests and certificates to the participants. Director Students Affairs, Madam Sadia Naseer was the moderator of the workshop session.
