21-member Punjab cabinet likely to take oath today

LAHORE: The oath-taking ceremony of 21-member Punjab cabinet is likely to be held here on Friday (today) as the CM’s House has contacted Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman for the oath-taking ceremony.

According to CM’s House sources, the 21-member cabinet of CM Pervaiz Elahi will take oath at Punjab Governor House. It is to be recalled that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan approved an 18-member working cabinet for the Punjab government during his visit a couple of days ago. Only PTI ministers would take oath in the first phase

According to details, the members of the Punjab cabinet, announced earlier on Thursday, have been assigned portfolios.

The portfolios assigned to the cabinet members are as follows: Mohsin Laghari will be the Finance Minister, Taimoor Malik Bhatti will Sports Ministe, Raja Yasir Humayun will be Minister for Information Technology and Higher Education; Ansar Majeed Niazi will be Minister of Labour; Raja Basharat will be Minister for Cooperatives and Prosecution; Sardar Shahabuddin will be the Minister for Livestock; Muneeb Cheema has been assigned Ministry of Transport; Murad Raas will be Minister for Schools Education; Dr Yasmin Rashid will supervise Ministry of Health; Khurrum Virk will oversee Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs; Hashim Dogar will be Minister of Interior and Prisons; Sardar Asif Nakki will be Minister for Excise and Taxation; Ali Afzal Sahi will be Minister of Works and Communications; Nawabzada Mansoor Khan will be Minister of Revenue; Hussain Jahanian Gardezi will be Minister of Agriculture; Ghazanfar Abbas will be Minister of Social Welfare; Latif Nazr will be Minister for Mines and Minerals; Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dareshek will be the Minister of Food and Energy;

Mehmoodur Rasheed will be Minister of Local Bodies; Mian Aslam Iqbal will be Minister of Housing and Ali Abbas Shah will be Minister of Forests.

Apart from this, it has also been decided to make Ahmed Owais the Advocate General of Punjab, while Musrat Jamshed Cheema will be made Special Assistant to Chief Minister and is likely to be given the Information Department.

Dr. Arsalan Khalid will also be made Special Assistant to the Chief Minister and will be given the IT department.

CM SEAT IS ENOUGH, NO OTHER MINISTRIES NEEDED

Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) leader Monis Illahi has said that they do not need any other ministry as they have the upper position in the province.

The PML-Q leader met with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan in Bani Gala on Thursday and assured him that their party does not have any further demand. Both the leaders discussed matters pertaining to the formation of the cabinet in the Punjab assembly.

Talking to the media after the meeting, the PML-Q leader said that he has assured the PTI Chief that they have no further demand after they have been given the Chief Minister’s seat.
