KP govt approves land purchase for Dir Motorway

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved acquisition of land for Dir Motorway for a period of 13 months at total cost of Rs3227.74 million.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said that purchase of requisite land and implementation of the project will be ensured well in time, adding that strict implementation of existing rules and regulations should be made in the project being executed under public-private partnership.

He said that mega highway projects were of utmost importance for sustainable development in the province. Mahmood Khan said that Dir Expressway and Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway construction will boost tourism, trade and economic activities in the province.

He said the provincial government has already approved the construction of Dir Expressway and Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway under public-private partnership. The 30km long expressway from Chakdara to Rabat will reduce the distance by 27km, adding that the four-lane expressway will have two tunnels and three interchanges.
