13 die as Cholera on rise in Zhob

ZHOB: As many as 13 people died of cholera in Zhob including nine patients died in District Headquarters Hospital, the health authorities informed.

According to District Officer Health (DO-H) Zhob Dr Muzaffar Shah, deaths from cholera have also been reported in the area outside the District Headquarters Hospital. “So far from July 5, 2,334 patients of cholera have been reported in the District Headquarters Hospital Zhob,” the district officer pointed out, adding that 462 patients were brought to the hospital on Saturday (today) alone.

According to reports, cholera has afflicted hundreds of people in Zhob district since past week. “Women and children are among worst hit by the water-borne disease,” the DHO said.

An emergency has been declared in the district to cope with increasing cases cholera disease. The main reason behind the outbreak of cholera is the use of contaminated water by the people.
