SC judgement ‘exposed’ foreign conspiracy narrative: Maryam

MULTAN: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz Friday said the Supreme Court judgement on former deputy speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling has exposed former prime minister Imran Khan’s narrative of the alleged foreign conspiracy.

“When it comes to the country, I can answer bluntly. The day institutions violate the Constitution they become controversial,” said Nawaz while addressing a rally in Multan on Friday ahead of crucial by-polls on 20 Punjab Assembly seats scheduled to be held on July 17.

She asked workers of the rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party to join her for the “betterment and prosperity” of the country.

“Let this country be a proposer and move ahead […[ I am sending a message of love to PTI’s youth to support PML-N and this country,” she said.

Nawaz asked her political rivals to let the incumbent ruling coalition work for the betterment of the country till the next election. “Vote for any one of your choices but don’t waste your vote by casting a ballot for the PTI,” she added.

The ruling party leader said PTI Chairman Imran Khan is asking the people of Punjab to vote for PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi after labelling him as the “biggest dacoit” of the province.

“The one who said establishment changed their [PTI] nappies is now a candidate of Punjab chief minister,” she added.

Nawaz also said his party after winning the Punjab by-polls will resume the free electricity scheme for lifeline consumers. “We are also providing scooters [sic] to working women and in the coming days, a free laptop scheme for youth will [also] be relaunched”.

She also accused the PTI chief of using a religion card for political gains saying “there is no greater culprit than the one who uses religion in politics”.

Besides political rivals, Nawaz said Imran also attacked independent judges and subjected Supreme Court Justice Qazi Faez Isa to victimisation.

Nawaz also reiterated that tough times are over and now the country is heading towards “good times” as all the decisions needed to steer the country out of crisis have been taken. “The PML-N has removed all [economic] land mines laid by [previous] PTI government and if the downward trend continues in the global oil market, fuel prices will be further slashed after two weeks,” she added.
