PTI MNA Niazi booked for ‘torturing’ trailer driver

LAYYAH: Four people, including Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNA Abdul Majeed Khan Niazi, were booked in the case of torturing a trailer driver in Fatehpur area of Layyah, police said on Friday.

However, the PTI MNA claims that the FIR was a part of a campaign to harass him by the Punjab government just to keep him away from a by-election being held in his constituency and he had refused to budge.

Police alleges that MNA Niazi and his men beat up the driver when he denied him the way during a road crossing. Following the incident, the driver had blocked the MM Road to register his protest.

MNA’s son, Abdur Raheem Niazi, on the other hand, has said that right now his father is in northern areas but Police was building pressure.

“The government is politically victimizing us by registering false and fabricated cases against us,” he alleged.

He has asked the police to see the facts before registering false against him and his family.
