Fazlur Rehman, Chaudhry Shujaat vow to work together

LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met with veteran politician and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain at his residence in Islamabad on Saturday.

Both the leaders discussed the overall political situation of the country and agreed to continue to work in harmony with each other ‘for the progress and prosperity of the country’.

They also concurred to continue to meet with each other in future as well. Matters related to the federal budget also came under discussion at the meeting.

Fazl and Shujaat expressed the optimism that the coalition government would resolve the issues confronting the people. They also held the last government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) responsible for the economic plight of the country. JUI-F Central Secretary General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri was also present on the occasion.

It merits mention here that PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has decided to part ways over political differences. According to sources, widening cracks in the PML-Q appeared to become more pronounced on Friday after two of its key faces were found divided on political lines. Sources say that Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi is a supporter of PTI Chairman Imran Khan while Chaudhry Shujaat wants to support PML-N.

Chaudhry Shujaat wants to see his children work with the Sharifs in future while Pervaiz Elahi’s son Moonis Elahi is eyeing his political future with Imran Khan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also visited the house of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and discussed joint political strategy.
