Azadi March signified Pakistan has changed forever: Imran Khan

Former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday said that Pakistan hasĀ “changed forever [and] the mental shackles of slavery have been broken finally”.

Imran made these remarks on his official Twitter handle alluding to PTI’s recently held ‘Azadi March’, wherein hundreds of party supporters marched to Islamabad amid the police brutalityĀ they faced.

“What I witnessed during my [seven]Ā hours on the container [between] 1am & 8am on [May] 26th morning confirmed what I had been sensing, since this imported govt was imposed on us through a foreign conspiracy,” he said.

The tweet comes a day afterĀ the PTI leader asked his supporters to prepare for the next long march towards Islamabad at a convention held in Charsadda. Imran told the participants of the convention that 220 million people were being enslaved.

ā€œRemember, the nation is not afraid of tear gas. This is a real liberation movement ā€¦ jihad,”Ā he had added.

Following his ouster from power, Imran Khan has alleged that a ā€œforeign conspiracyā€ against his government was behind the no-confidence motion tabled in the National Assembly last month and has repeatedly stated that he is willing to go to any lengths for ā€œreal freedomā€ of the country but will not accept the incumbent government led by ā€œslaves of US and thievesā€.

The second call for a long march was made by Imran after he decided to end his march early on May 27 and gave the incumbent government an ultimatum; to announce elections within six days or have the ā€œentire nationā€ return to the capital.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged people to reject the policies of PTI and criticised Imran for damaging the countryā€™s economic and other interests, calling him arrogant.

PM made these remarks after an audio clip of an alleged conversation between former president Asif Ali Zardari and property tycoon Malik Riaz which took place before the no-confidence motion against former prime minister Imran Khan, has been leaked on social media in which Riaz can be heard saying that Imran wanted to reconcile with the PPP co-chairman.

Imran Khan had repeatedly denied rumours surrounding the topic when he was in government, saying he did not need NRO (amnesty) from anyone, rather, all other politicians had been asking for one which wasn’t given to them.

In a comment on the audio clip, PM Shehbaz stated that the alleged conversation between Zardari and Malik Riaz exposed Imran Khan’s “hypocrisy and double standards”.

“Contrary to his claims, he [Imran] sought NRO to save himself & his govt. The fake story of foreign conspiracy was manufactured after all his efforts failed,” Shehbaz said, adding that Imran’s “lies stand exposed”.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan also said that the role of judiciary and legal fraternity was key in protecting the country by upholding the rule of law.

Talking to lawyersā€™ convention, he said that if they did not resist foreign intervention and corrupt rulers imposed on them than coming generations would not forgive. He said that it was the responsibility of judiciary and lawyers to stand for the rule of law in the country.

He said that the country was going through a defining moment in which roles of judges and lawyers were of paramount importance in defending the country. He said that no country could progress without upholding rule of law and equal justice for all people irrespective of their position in the society.

He said that PTI had filed petition in the Supreme Court to seek its ruling on holding peaceful demonstration in the country.
He said that all economic indicators were positive with record remittance, tax collection, record agriculture yield, exports all time high when PTI government was removed through foreign interference.
He said that PTI government had made it clear to foreign powers that they wanted friendship with all countries but would not accept slavery at any cost.

Imran Khan said that international community also recognized Pakistani government’s efforts to tackle with Coronavirus crisis.
Imran Khan said that his first responsibility was to protect his own countrymen. He said he wanted strain relations with anybody but slavery was not acceptable to him and his party.
He said that past coward rulers had allowed drone attacks which was the violation of human rights on Pakistani soil in which hundreds of innocent people including children and women were killed.
He wanted the legal fraternity to stand with him in struggle for ā€œ Haqiqi Azadiā€.
He said that during his visit to Russia, PTI government discussed import of fuel and wheat at subsidized rate to give relief to its people by pursuing independent foreign policy.

Imran Khan said that criminals cases would be registered against all those responsible for violence against peaceful protestors coming for long march to Islamabad.
