Federal Cabinet to take up extension case of CEO of EDB on Tuesday  

ISLAMABAD: Federal cabinet on Tuesday is likely to grant its approval on a summary of the Industries and Production Division, seeking extension in the job contract of Raza Abbas Shah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Engineering Development Board (EDB).

Earlier on 17th December, 2019, the establishment division in a notification said that Raza Abbas Shah was appointed as EDB’s CEO in MP-I scale for a period of two years with immediate effect and until further orders.

The appointment which was subject to termination on one month’s notice by either side was made after a gap of more than two and a half years as the post was lying vacant since March 31, 2017 and the business of the organisation was being carried out on a look-after basis.

According to sources, however, now after the expiry of Raza Abbas Shah’s contract, Industries and Production Division has sought from the federal cabinet to grant extension in the job contract of Raza Abbas Shah as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engineering Development Board (EDB).

As per details, the federal cabinet is scheduled to be held on Tuesday (11th January, 2022) at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Cabinet will take up summaries of various divisions including Commerce, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Interior, Industries & Production, Power, Revenue, Religious Affairs & Inter-faith Harmony, Science & Technology, Narcotics, and Cabinet division.

As per agenda, Commerce Division will table a summary regarding the appointment of Chairman and Members of Copy Right Board of Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO-P)

Cabinet will also take up Foreign Affairs division’s summary seeking the ex-post facto approval for acceptance of award “Noot-ul-Tamreen Medals” by 100 X personnel of PAF by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Similarly, the cabinet will consider a summary of the Finance Division regarding registration of existing credit guarantee trust fund under Islamabad Capital Territory Trust Act, 2020.

The Interior Division will table a summary regarding a residential project for overseas Pakistanis at Park Road, Zone-4, Islamabad under Roshan Digital Account Incentives. Similarly, the Interior Division will seek approval of CDA budget estimates 2021-22 and revised estimates for the Financial Year 2020-21

Cabinet is also scheduled to take up a summary of Power Division regarding tariff rationalization for power sector quarterly tariff adjustment for 4th quarter FY 2020-21

A summary of the Revenue Division on regularization of non-customs paid vehicles plying in ex-FATA/PATAs via one time concession in duty and taxes will also be taken up by the cabinet.

Religion Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Division through a summary will seek approval of draft Interfaith Harmony Policy while the division will seek appointment as Member National Commission for Minorities (NCM) from Christian Community.

Science and Technology Division will seek approval on Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2021

Narcotics Division will get the approval of federal cabinet for the appointment of federal government analyst (Narcotics)

Cabinet will further take up appointment of Chairman of PTDC Board of Directors (BoDs) and National Tourism Coordination Board (NTCB)

Cabinet Division will also table summaries seeking ratification of the decision taken by the cabinet committee on institutional reforms (CCIR) in its meeting held on 22-12-2021.

The cabinet will take up ratification of the decision taken by the cabinet committee on privatization (CCoP) in its meeting held on 31-12-2021 and it will further consider the ratification of the decision taken by the economic coordination committee (ECC) of the cabinet in its meeting held on 05-01-2022.

“Any other item with the permission of the Prime Minister,” said the federal cabinet’s agenda.
