NA-133 by-poll: ECP orders forensic analysis of videos of alleged vote fraud

LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken notice of the report of alleged video regarding buying and selling of votes during campaigns for NA-133 by-election and decided to take strict action, if the report is proved true.

If pre-poll rigging is proved, then the case will be referred to the Election Commission Islamabad and the NA-133 by-poll could also be postponed, besides disqualification of the involved candidates.

The ECP sent letters to chairman PEMRA, chairman NADRA, IGP and commissioner Lahore, ordering forensic analysis of the video and identification of persons.

The ECP also directed the returning officer to submit a written report of forensic. Action will be taken on the report by November 30.

On the other hand, the ECP announced that by-election for the Senate seat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, vacated by Muhammad Ayub Afridi, would be held on December 20.

The polling will be held in the building of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

According to the ECP spokesperson, nomination papers can be submitted from November 30 to December 2. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed by December 6 and appeals could be filed till December 8.
