PML-N leader Shaista Pervaiz to contest NA-133 by-election

The seat had fallen vacant after the death of her husband and PML-N leader Pervaiz Malik earlier this month

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to field Shaista Pervaiz Malik for the NA-133 by-election to be held on December 5.

Shaista is an MNA on a reserved seat for women.

The NA-133 seat fell vacant after the death of her husband and PML-N leader Pervaiz Malik, who had defeated PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry in the 2018 general election with a margin of some 12,000 votes.

The Election Commission of Pakitan (ECP) has announced the date for the by-election on this seat on December 5. Candidates have been advised to file their nominations by October 25 whereas scrutiny of the nomination papers will be conducted on October 30.

“No government or authority shall post or transfer any official in the district where the schedule for by-election in NA-133 is announced till the publication of name of returned candidate. No government functionary or elected representative including a local government functionary shall announce any development scheme for the constituency where election is under process till December 5,” the ECP notification states.
