Balochistan CM shows defiance against rebels as tide starts to shift

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan Friday stood defiant against the rebel lawmakers of the ruling party, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), as the tide started to shift in his favour.

In a major development, Balochistan Governor Syed Zahoor Agha accepted the resignations of three disgruntled ministers of the provincial cabinet.

As per the report, the resignations of Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Mir Asad Baloch, and Zahoor Ahmed Buledi have been accepted.

Earlier on Wednesday, a group of ministers, including Buledi, Khetran, and Asad Baloch, and MPAs Haji Muhammad Khan Lehri, Akbar Askani, Sikandar Umrani, Bushra Rind, Mahjabeen Sheeran, and Lala Rasheed Baloch had tendered their resignations.

BALOCHISTAN CM REFUSES TO STEP DOWN:

Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan refused to step down from his post despite pressure from some Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) members.

“I will continue my struggle and will not resign on the call of 12 people,” he said.

The CM said that all the members of BAP and its allied parties are supporting him except for a few BAP members who tendered their resignations to the Balochistan governor.

He said that some of his “companions” have tried to remove him from the post of the chief minister before too, adding that he would not let this “void” persist within the party.

“We are trying that the ministers take their resignations back. If they don’t take their resignations back, we will have to appoint new ministers,” said CM Kamal.
