Politicians, institutions celebrating Defence Day with zeal

LAHORE: Various political figures and public institutions have issued statements on how they will observe Defence Day — celebrated on September 6 this year — with zeal and fervour.

Defence Day is celebrated as a national day to commemorate the sacrifices made by Pakistani soldiers in defending its borders. The date of 6 September marks the day in 1965 when Indian troops crossed the international border to launch an attack on Pakistani Punjab, in a riposte to Pakistan’s Operation Grand Slam targeting Jammu.

In this regard, Inter-Services Public Relations on Sunday released another video ahead of Defence and Martyrs Day, involving a conversation of the wife of an army man regarding fears in her life.

The video shared by the ISPR showed a conversation between three women, with two of them praising the third one- the wife of an army man- regarding her courage during their academic tenure.

The wife during the conversation said that she now has fears in her life and on insistence from the two others said that when Hassan [her husband] is on a military operation, she even fears the unknown phone call or a news report.

The ISPR has been releasing videos to pay tribute to the families of the martyrs ahead of the Defence and Martyrs Day observed on September 06.

The ISPR on Friday released the eighth video of its series to pay tribute to the martyrs’ families ahead of the Defence and Martyrs Day, showing a bomb disposal squad official leaving her mother on a hospital bed to save school children.

Moreover, the sixth episode of the Pakistan Air Force short documentary in connection with Defence and Martyrs’ Day was released on Sunday.

The PAFs’ documentary was part of eight short episodes relating to Defence Day, said a PAF news release.

The documentary’s sixth episode narrated the bravery of the valiant warriors of PAF and chronicles on the day of September 04, 1965.

It paid a tribute to the bravery and courage of the valiant air warriors of PAF who, during the air battle of 1965, displayed unparalleled professionalism and bravery to defend the homeland.

Moreover, the Pakistan Navy has released a special song “Dil Khosh Hua” in connection with Defence Day, reported Radio Pakistan.

According to the Navy’s spokesperson, the song pays homage to the devotees of the homeland.

The song reflects the spirit of martyrdom and a sense of responsibility which is associated with the uniform.

This song is the story of three friends. The message of this song is that martyrdom in the line of duty is not the end of the journey but a beginning of a new journey.

Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Mohammad Sarwar in a message on Defence Day
