Soldier martyred, terrorist killed in Waziristan operation

RAWALPINDI: The security forces killed a terrorist and captured another in injured condition during an operation in Sararogha, South Waziristan District. However, during an exchange of fire with the terrorists, a Pak Army soldier, Naik Ziaud Din embraced martyrdom.

The terrorists were planning to attack the check post.

According to an ISPR press release on Friday, on the night of 11-12 August, the Pakistan Army post in Sararogha detected suspicious moves of three to four suspected terrorists in its area of responsibility. A Quick Reaction Force was immediately dispatched to challenge the suspected terrorists. However, the troops were fired upon. Due to effective response, one terrorist got killed and another was apprehended in injured condition.

However, during an intense exchange of fire, Naik Ziaud Din, a resident of Mardan, part of the leading troops, got critically injured and embraced shahadat.

The apprehended terrorist later revealed that they planned to conduct a raid on a military post.

The ISPR said that Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism. Sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.
