Sarwar assures Tareen group of a meeting with prime minister

Tareen group keeps swelling as federal minister, MNA join rebels

ISLAMABAD: Amid reports of likely meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and estranged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen, the ruling party’s leaders ‘loyal’ to Tareen have met with Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and conveyed to him their concerns.

It may be mentioned here that Sarwar and Tareen were at each other’s throat during the last intra-party elections. However, it seems that Sarwar is now playing a reconciliatory role now.

According to sources in the PTI, notable among those who met with the governor were Raja Riaz, Provincial Minister Ajmal Cheema and Khayal Ahmad Kastro. Sources further disclosed that the Punjab governor assured the members of the Tareen group that whatever their concerns were would be addressed and that he would play his role to ensure that they had a meeting with PM Imran soon.

Sarwar, on the occasion, said that each and every member of the party had trust in the prime minister’s leadership.

“The present government has taken concrete steps for the development and stability of the country. And that resolution of the issues confronting the common man was the government’s top priority,” the governor asserted.

Sarwar hoped that God willing, the PTI government would complete its five-year term and that the general elections would be held in 2023.

“There is no threat to the government,” Punjab Governor Sarwar said. He said Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme and Ehsaas Programme were the manifestations of the government’s people-friendly approach.

The governor further said that Punjab Aab Pak Authority would fulfil its promise of the provision of clean drinking water to the people. Furthermore, he said, development schemes in the Faisalabad division would be completed at the earliest.

FEDERAL MINISTER MEETS TAREEN, EXPRESSES SOLIDARITY:

In a major development, Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Sahibzada Mehboob Sultan called on Jahangir Tareen and expressed solidarity with him.

Mehboob Sultan was accompanied by Sahibzada Ameer Sultan, his close relative and Member of the National Assembly (MNA) of the PTI from Jhang.

Speaking on the occasion, the two MNAs said that Tareen had rendered invaluable services for the party, and their all support and sympathies were with him.

“Together we will foil ‘a conspiracy from within the party,” they vowed.

Separately, PTI MNA Umar Tanvir Butt also called on Jahangir Tareen to express solidarity with him.
