PDM didn’t drag any institution into politics: PML-N

ISLAMABAD: A day after Pakistan Army urged the stakeholders not to drag it into politics, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) central spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday insisted that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had not involved any national institution into its fight against the government.

Talking to reporters, Aurangzeb said that the Constitution does not allow any state entity to interfere in the political affairs.

Lamenting the teetering economy, she said that jobs were available only to “friends of Bani Gala” in a thinly-veiled reference to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The prime minister is exercising his “incompetent” political skills since August 2018, she stated.

On the other hand, PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal said that promulgation of the ordinance for open Senate vote despite PTI lacking a supermajority in the Parliament is the height of ignorance of incumbent government.

Iqbal, while speaking to reporters outside an accountability court in Lahore, claimed PM Imran wanted to issue Senate tickets to his friends.

He further said that the ordinance was an attempt to pressurise the Supreme Court (SC) into ruling in the government’s favour on a reference seeking the apex forum’s advice on the matter.

Iqbal, while announcing to challenge the ordinance, said the Constitution could not be amended just to benefit the “friends of Imran Khan”.

He also urged the apex court to reject the reference.
