ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday held separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Türkiye, underscoring Pakistan’s active engagement in regional diplomacy and its commitment to supporting peace, stability, and dialogue in the Middle East, the Foreign Office said in separate X posts.
According to the Foreign Office (FO), the discussions focused on recent developments and the evolving regional situation, with Dar appreciating the efforts of all sides to resolve tensions amicably.
DPM Dar discusses Yemen with Saudi counterpart
In a post on X, the FO stated that Dar and the Saudi foreign minister “deliberated on the recent situation in the region.” This marked their second call this week, following an earlier conversation in which both leaders exchanged views on “the current regional situation and recent developments.”

“The DPM/FM welcomed the Saudi foreign ministry’s statement regarding Yemen and appreciated the efforts of all sides to resolve the regional situation amicably,” the FO said. The statement also highlighted Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council decision to hold comprehensive talks in Saudi Arabia, stressing the need for a peaceful process.
The FO reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for Yemen’s unity and regional security, noting that, based on brotherly relations and principles of unity, Islamabad hopes regional efforts will restore lasting peace and stability.
Dialogue with UAE counterpart
In a separate post, the FO said Dar also spoke by phone from Beijing with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“Both DPMs exchanged views on the current regional situation and expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory and improvement in the region,” the statement said. Dar appreciated that dialogue and diplomacy have produced tangible outcomes on the ground.
Pakistan backs Yemeni peace process
Meanwhile, the FO issued a separate statement expressing Pakistan’s support for Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity, welcoming the call by Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council for dialogue in Riyadh and urging all stakeholders to engage in good faith toward a negotiated political settlement.

The statement came after a fresh escalation in Yemen, where the government recently launched an operation to reclaim military positions from southern separatists, including the recovery of one of the largest military camps in Hadramout province.
Strategic ties with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia maintain close ties, including strategic military cooperation, economic partnership, and shared Islamic values. The relationship features Saudi financial assistance and energy support to Pakistan, and in September 2025, the two countries signed a landmark mutual defence agreement, under which an attack on one is considered an attack on both.
In a related development, DPM Dar also spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, discussing the fast-changing regional situation.

“The two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and expressed appreciation for the earnest efforts undertaken by all parties to resolve issues through dialogue and diplomacy,” the FO said. Dar further expressed a desire to enhance bilateral cooperation with Türkiye in areas including trade, technology, tourism, and IT.
