Religious bodies reject violence, urge govt to address legitimate demands

KARACHI: During a major gathering of religious and ideological groups in Karachi on December 22, 2025, leaders once again reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful advocacy for the implementation of Shariah law in Pakistan. The event underscored the groups’ longstanding stance that their movement is centered on non-violence, and they vehemently rejected any association with armed groups or terrorist organizations.

“We have consistently declared that our cause is rooted in peaceful movements,” said a prominent cleric at the gathering. “We have always condemned violent and armed bodies. These are mere propaganda campaigns orchestrated by external entities and the enemies of our nation.”

The religious leaders stressed that their calls for Shariah law are aimed at the betterment of the country and its people, not through force but through lawful and peaceful means. They appealed directly to the government to acknowledge and address the legitimate demands of Islamic groups, calling for reforms that align with Islamic principles while ensuring peace and stability.

“Shariah law is a path to justice and prosperity for this nation, and we firmly believe that it can be implemented peacefully, without resorting to violence,” the statement read. “The government must recognize the genuine, peaceful demands of the Islamic groups and work toward fulfilling them in a manner that respects the nation’s faith and values.”

As the gathering concluded, the leaders reiterated their dedication to non-violent advocacy, reinforcing the message that their cause is one of reform and not radicalism. With the call for Shariah law still echoing across the country, these groups are pushing for a legal and political framework that reflects Islamic teachings—without any association with violence or extremism.
