CCPO orders intensified crackdown on crime, power theft across Lahore

• Kamyana lauds police for exemplary Ashura security, reviews Civil Lines and City divisions

• Orders indiscriminate action against street criminals, proclaimed offenders and hardened suspects

• Directs stronger coordination with LESCO to fast-track crackdown on electricity theft

• Calls for public-friendly policing, swift complaint resolution and enhanced security at business centres

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana on Thursday directed Lahore Police to intensify its crackdown on social and street crimes, accelerate the campaign against electricity theft and tighten action against proclaimed offenders and hardened criminals, while commending the force for ensuring exemplary security arrangements during Ashura-e-Muharram.

The directives were issued during a high-level performance review meeting held at the CCPO Office, where the policing performance of the Civil Lines and City divisions was reviewed.

Appreciating the professionalism and dedication of police personnel during Muharram, the CCPO praised the force for maintaining effective security arrangements and ensuring the peaceful observance of Ashura across the provincial capital.

DIG (Admin) Imran Kishwar, DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran, SSP (Investigation) Muhammad Naveed, SSP (Operations) Touqeer Muhammad Naeem, along with SPs, ASPs, Circle Officers, SHOs and Investigation Incharges of the Civil Lines and City divisions, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Mr Kamyana tasked the SSP (Operations) with further intensifying efforts to eliminate social vices and ordered indiscriminate action against individuals involved in social and street crimes to strengthen law and order across the city.

He also directed officers to accelerate the ongoing campaign against electricity theft by enhancing coordination with the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and ensuring that all power theft cases were pursued to their logical conclusion without unnecessary delay.

Reaffirming his commitment to preventive policing, the CCPO said every possible effort should be made to build a safer, more secure and crime-free society through proactive law enforcement and effective policing.

He instructed the police to tighten the crackdown on proclaimed offenders and hardened criminals involved in heinous offences, while directing field officers to further enhance security arrangements at commercial and business centres to foster a stronger sense of safety and confidence among the trading community.

The CCPO also instructed officers to ensure prompt relief for victims of financial crimes and directed that all complaints received through the Complaint Management System be resolved within the prescribed timeframe.

Emphasising the importance of teamwork and institutional coordination, Mr Kamyana said all wings of the Lahore Police must work in close collaboration to effectively combat crime and improve public service delivery.

He further directed officers to treat complainants and visitors to police stations with courtesy, dignity and respect, observing that professional conduct, public-friendly policing and the timely delivery of justice remained the defining hallmarks of an efficient and responsive police force.
