Lahore Police pledges stronger shield for traders, action on market issues

CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana met a 30-member traders’ delegation, pledging priority action on market security and traffic woes. He ordered regular police-trader meetings, stricter business-hour enforcement, and faster complaint response.

 LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana on Wednesday reaffirmed that Lahore Police was committed to ensuring the protection of the business community and maintaining a peaceful environment for commercial activities across the provincial capital.

The assurance came during a meeting with a 30-member delegation of traders, led by Mujahid Maqsood Butt, which called on the CCPO to discuss market security, traffic management and other policing concerns.

During the meeting, the delegation apprised the police chief of key challenges faced by traders, particularly security arrangements in markets and traffic-related issues. Both sides also deliberated on enhancing coordination and strengthening communication between the police and the business community to ensure timely resolution of problems.

The traders appreciated Lahore Police’s efforts in crime prevention, while the CCPO assured them that their concerns would be addressed on a priority basis, directing the SSP (Operations) to take immediate steps for resolving traders’ issues.

He further instructed divisional Superintendents of Police (SPs) to hold regular meetings with trader representatives to improve liaison and ensure effective follow-up. Kamyana said business hours set by the Punjab government would be strictly enforced and urged traders to deploy private security guards in major markets.

He also stressed the importance of timely unloading of goods to prevent traffic congestion in busy commercial areas.

The CCPO directed police personnel to ensure prompt response to citizens and maintain a professional attitude, adding that performance would be monitored through body cameras and panic button systems. He reiterated that his office remained open to the public for addressing grievances.

The traders’ delegation expressed its commitment to extending full cooperation to law enforcement agencies. Senior police officers, including Imran Kishwar and Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem, were also present.
