Karachi mobile phone dealer killed in Mastung firing

KARACHI: A mobile phone dealer from Karachi was shot dead and a woman was seriously injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a family vehicle in the Dasht area of Balochistan’s Mastung district, according to office-bearers of a traders’ body.

Karachi Mobile and Electronics Dealers Association Chairman Minhaj Gulfam said the incident occurred late on Saturday night as a family from Nazimabad was travelling by road from Karachi to Quetta. He said the family had apparently gone off course after being misdirected by a navigation application and reached the Khund area of Dasht.

According to Gulfam, unidentified armed men then opened indiscriminate fire on the vehicle. He said Ali Jamil, the head of the family, was killed at the scene, while a woman suffered serious injuries. Two minor children who were also travelling with the family were not hurt in the attack, he added.

Gulfam said the body of the deceased and the injured woman had been brought to Karachi. He also confirmed that Ali Jamil was a member of the association and worked in the mobile phone business in Karachi.
