Two suspects arrested in Swat after seminary student’s rape, murder

PESHAWAR: Police have arrested two suspects in the rape and murder case of a teenage seminary student who went missing from Peshawar and was later found in Swat, where she died during treatment, according to local authorities.

The case relates to a girl aged between 16 and 17, identified in the first information report only by the initial A. Police said she was from the Usmanabad area of Abbottabad and had left home for her religious seminary before disappearing in Peshawar.

According to police findings cited in the FIR, the girl was allegedly abducted from Peshawar and taken to Swat, where she was subjected to sexual assault. After her family reported her missing, she was traced in Swat and shifted to a local hospital in critical condition. She later succumbed to her injuries while under treatment.

Police said the incident took place on June 24, 2026, and that an FIR was registered the next day, June 25, at Rahimabad Police Station in Swat. Authorities said the two nominated suspects have been taken into custody as the investigation proceeds.
