OKARA: Police in Basirpur have registered a murder case against a man and his two brothers after a woman was allegedly stabbed to death at her home in Muhammad Pura locality.
According to the first information report, Uzama Bibi had been married to Farooq Ahmad for around 10 years and the couple had four children. Local residents told police that the husband and wife had frequently argued over domestic matters, and the FIR said another dispute took place two days before the killing.
The case was lodged on the complaint of the woman’s father, Mansha. He stated that after learning of the latest quarrel, he went to his daughter’s in-laws’ house along with his son and a nephew to try to settle the matter. In his account to police, he alleged that when they arrived, Farooq was assaulting Uzama inside a room while his brothers, identified as Shukat Ali and Rab Nawaz, were standing at the door.
Mansha alleged in the FIR that Farooq then repeatedly stabbed his wife with a knife, killing her at the scene, before the three suspects fled after seeing him and the other relatives. Basirpur police registered a case under sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. No arrest had been made so far.
