Okara: Two women were shot dead and a third was critically injured after their brother allegedly opened fire on them in Shadman Colony of Okara, police said on Thursday.

According to initial reports cited by police, the suspect opened fire on his three sisters during a domestic dispute. Bushra Bibi and Fiza Bibi died at the scene, while the third sister suffered serious injuries.

Rescue officials said the injured woman was initially taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Okara. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later referred to Sahiwal for further treatment.

Police identified the suspect as Adil and said he fled the scene with the weapon used in the attack. After receiving information about the incident, a heavy police contingent reached the area.

District Police Officer Dr Asad Ijaz Malhi also visited the scene and took notice of the case. The bodies of the two deceased women were taken into custody and shifted to the district hospital for post-mortem examination.

Investigation under way

Police said a case has been registered and an investigation has been launched. Officials added that a special team has been constituted under the supervision of the SP Investigation to examine the incident from different angles.

Authorities said the motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined. Police also said raids are under way to arrest the suspect, who remains at large.

The incident took place in Shadman Colony, an area of Okara, and prompted a significant police response. Investigators are now working to establish the circumstances that led to the shooting and to trace the accused.

Officials have so far said only that the firing followed a domestic dispute, while the exact reason behind the violence is still being ascertained. The injured sister remains under treatment after being moved from Okara to Sahiwal because of her critical condition.

Police said further progress in the case would depend on the ongoing investigation and efforts to apprehend the suspect.
