LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has destroyed more than 16,700 kilogrammes of rotten mangoes during an inspection of a juice processing facility, citing serious food safety violations.

According to the PFA, inspection teams found decayed fruit that was allegedly intended for use in the production of juice. The spoiled mangoes were discarded on the spot to prevent them from entering the food supply chain.

Officials said the operation was carried out as part of the authority's ongoing campaign against the production and sale of substandard food products.

The PFA also took legal action against the processing unit for violating food safety regulations and warned food businesses against using expired or contaminated raw materials.

The authority reiterated its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and hygienic food, urging consumers to report suspected food safety violations through its official complaint channels.
