A detailed assessment by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with FAFEN has evaluated the condition of public schools across Punjab using a wide range of educational and infrastructure indicators.
The report examined factors such as student enrollment, examination outcomes, access to clean drinking water, electricity, and other basic facilities to determine overall school performance and education quality.
Findings show that Rahim Yar Khan ranked among the poorest performing districts in the province, placing in the bottom three overall. The district also reported one of the lowest literacy rates in Punjab, alongside Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.
On the other hand, Lahore showed notable progress. With education facilities and service availability reaching close to 80 percent, the provincial capital secured the fifth position among all districts in Punjab.
Officials stated that the report reflects a clear divide between urban and underdeveloped areas, highlighting improvements in major cities while emphasizing the urgent need for focused reforms to address gaps in education infrastructure and quality in less developed districts.
