Main suspect in Lakki Marwat cop murder arrested at Peshawar airport

PESHAWAR: Police have arrested the main suspect in the murder of a security forces personnel in Lakki Marwat at Peshawar airport while he was attempting to flee the country, officials said.

The accused, identified as Safeerullah, was taken into custody with the assistance of the Federal Investigation Agency, according to police.

Officials said Safeerullah was wanted in a murder case registered at Tajjuri Police Station on November 16, 2025.

Investigators said he, along with an accomplice identified as Matiullah, was involved in the killing of security forces personnel Waheed Zaman.

Police said Waheed Zaman was serving with the security forces in Balochistan at the time of the incident.

After the murder, co-accused Matiullah reportedly managed to escape abroad two days later. Police said efforts were continuing to trace and arrest him.

Authorities said the arrested suspect had been handed over to the relevant department for further investigation, while inquiries into the case were ongoing.
