Sufi legend Abida Parveen has denied widespread social media rumours about her health, calling the claims “baseless” and “irresponsible.”
A detailed clarification was shared through her official Instagram account to reassure fans and counter the growing wave of misinformation. The statement read, “Hello, everybody! We have posted about it before, but it seems like it needs to be reiterated. Abida Ji is perfectly healthy and well, Alhamdulillah.”
The response came after a week of unfounded speculation online, with several posts falsely alleging that the celebrated singer was battling a serious illness. Some unverified reports even claimed she had been denied medical treatment.
Her management expressed disappointment over how quickly the rumours spread, particularly criticising media outlets for publishing unconfirmed information. “The rumours spreading on social media lately have blown out of proportion. Well-known media outlets have been reporting on news without confirmation and absolutely no substantial proof,” the statement said.
They warned that such careless reporting only creates panic among fans who hold the artist in deep admiration. The team also thanked Parveen’s supporters for their concern but urged everyone to verify information before sharing it further.
“We greatly appreciate your concern, but please verify the information you receive on social media instead of peddling it forward with no authentication,” they wrote.
Her representatives also appealed to media organisations to remove any false stories about her health and uphold journalistic integrity. The message concluded with an apology to fans for the confusion and a request for continued prayers for the beloved singer.
