KARACHI/JAMSHORO: Educationists, scholars, and writers highlighted the need to incorporate lessons in school textbooks that foster moral development, enhance knowledge, and promote critical thinking skills. This was discussed during the first meeting of the curriculum review committee, held on Wednesday, to assess educational textbooks following the directives of Sindh’s Minister for Education, Syed Sardar Ali Shah.
The meeting underscored the importance of content that encourages effective language use, social responsibility, collective thinking, and rational perspectives. A proposal was made to establish guiding principles to achieve these objectives, with a focus on aligning Students’ Learning Outcomes (SLOs) with the textbook content.
Chaired by Sindh Textbook Board Chairman Parvez Ahmed Baloch, the meeting reviewed the 12th-grade Sindhi textbook. Experts shared their feedback and suggested revisions to align the content with modern educational requirements.
Writer Jami Chandio emphasized that improving textbooks is an ongoing process. While he noted thematic imbalances in the current 12th-grade Sindhi textbook, he commended its content quality, which he considered superior to textbooks from other provinces.
