Nauman Ijaz critiques portrayal of relationships in Pakistani dramas

Famous actor Nauman Ijaz, during a recent appearance on Meer Means Business didn’t mince words when discussing the state of Pakistani television. He expressed deep concern about the negative portrayal of relationships, describing it as a disgrace to the essence of human connections in local media.

According to Nauman, the prevalent depiction of mothers, sisters, and in-laws as antagonistic figures, and fathers and brothers as villains, contributes to a toxic narrative surrounding relationships. He emphasized the detrimental impact of such representations on society, stressing the urgent need for change.

Nauman underscored the influence of media on shaping societal norms, lamenting the tendency to glorify negativity in dramas. He recounted an instance where a serial focusing on discord between in-laws garnered high ratings, reflecting what he perceives as a pervasive negativity in society.

The actor revealed his personal approach to projects, prioritizing stories with positive messages and avoiding unnecessary dialogues. He expressed frustration with writers who overlook the importance of maintaining a family-friendly viewing experience.
