Drug-addict son kills father by setting him on fire following heated argument

A disturbing incident unfolded in India, as a drug-addicted man set his father on fire, resulting in his death following a heated argument at their residence.

According to Indian police officials, the 28-year-old Tirupati Anurag poured petrol over his 54-year-old father, Tirupati Ravinder, igniting the fatal blaze.

The tragic event transpired during a confrontation between Anurag and his father over the former’s desire to acquire a bike. As tensions escalated, Anurag, armed with stored petrol, doused his father with the flammable liquid, revealed S. Raghavender Reddy, the circle inspector at Adibatla Police Station.

As Ravinder was having lunch, Anurag poured petrol on him, prompting the elder to flee for his life from the first floor, pursued by his son.

“Anurag also struck Ravinder’s head with a stone before setting him ablaze with a lighter,” stated the Indian police officer.

Subsequently, Anurag confined his mother to a room and fled the scene after changing his attire. Authorities noted that the accused exhibited signs of mental instability, likely exacerbated by his addiction to ‘Ganja.’

Local police initiated an investigation, gathering evidence from the crime scene. “On Friday morning, we arrested Anurag,” reported Raghavender Reddy.

Police inquiries uncovered Anurag’s troubled history, including job loss six months prior due to drug addiction. Additionally, documented instances of mistreatment toward his father, involving verbal and physical altercations, were revealed.

Despite rehabilitation attempts, Anurag persisted in displaying aggressive behavior towards his parents.
