Australia edge Pakistan to reach U19 World Cup final

Australia secured a thrilling 1-wicket victory over Pakistan in the U19 World Cup semi-final held in Benoni, South Africa.

The win propels Australia into the final where they will face India on Sunday, February 11.

In pursuit of a target of 180, Australia achieved the victory on the first ball of the 50th over.

Despite Pakistan’s impressive performance in the bowling department, notably with Ali Raza taking 4 wickets and Arafat Minhas contributing two, they couldn’t overcome the challenge.

The batting heroes for Australia were Harry Dixon, who scored 50, and Oliver Peake, who contributed 49. However, it was Raf MacMillan’s crucial unbeaten 10 runs that steered the team into the mega final.

In the first innings, Pakistan was bowled out for 179, with Tom Straker claiming 6 wickets. The top scorers for the Green Shirts were Azan Awais (52) and Arafat Minhas (52).

In the other semi-final, India emerged victorious over South Africa in a closely contested match, clinching the win by 2 wickets in a nail-biting encounter.
