PTI blasts police over arresting, dragging women workers

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lashed out at the “fascist government” and Islamabad police for their extremely shameful and disgusting behaviour to drag PTI peaceful women and men protesters on roads for their sole crime to come out in huge number to show solidarity with Supreme Court of Pakistan.

PTI leaders in their strong-worded reaction strongly condemned the police brutality and termed the PTI women and workers’ arrested and dragging and pushing inside prison vans an absolutely shameful act and vowed that they would stand with the supremacy of the constitution and independent of the judiciary come what may.

PTI Central Secretary General Asad Umar, in his strong reaction, said that the worst fascism continued in Islamabad, as women were also arrested for their fault to express solidarity with the Constitution and Judiciary of Pakistan.

PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry reacted that Islamabad Police established new traditions of brutal treatment of political workers. He said that these wounds would take time to heal.

PTI Senior Vice President Dr. Shireen Mazari said: “Sheer barbarism, as our women workers were simply standing by outside F-9 Park gate near heavy police contingent waiting for our rally. Police attacked and arrested them although they had literally broken no laws – not even 144. She strongly condemned this violence against peaceful citizens.

PTI Central Secretary Information Farrukh Habib said that despite the order of the Islamabad High Court, the Islamabad police did not take care of the dignity and respect of peaceful citizens, especially women, and they were dragged into the prisoner vans. He said that shameful and dictatorial act of Islamabad police and fascist government was unacceptable.

PTI senior leader Dr Iftikhar Durrani raised a question as to why PDM, which was an amalgamation of the 13 oldest political parties of the country, was so afraid of political activities, peaceful rallies and public demonstrations that whenever the people gathered democratically, they were illegally suppressed and detained.

He said that they strongly condemned the arrests of PTI workers including women from Islamabad and Rawalpindi, adding that the imported thugs have not yet realized that these acts only increase public sentiment.
