Parwaz hai junoon is Top Gun told from the perspective of someone who is bad at filmmaking, explains director

Lashing out at critics, Parwaz hai junoon director Haseeb Hassan has said that the movie is meant to be a representation of what the story of top gun would look like if it had been made from the perspective of someone who is bad at filmmaking.

“I don’t so why people are so angry at the bad direction, wonky aesthetics, uber nationalists propaganda storyline, lack of character development and general doltishness” he said at a panel discussion at a promotional event for the movie.

“We all know that Top Gun is an amazing movie. I loved it when I was a kid. It’s objectively cool, stars Tom Cruise, has a strong, smart female lead and a complex storyline with themes ranging from friendship, to love, to grief, death, loss and service.”

“Now take all of that brilliance portrayed by Tony Scott, and imagine that someone who is bad at filmmaking took a whack at it” he went on to say.

“I used to dream of this as a kid, and I’m pleased to say, I think I’ve done a pretty swell job and making Top Gun from the perspective of a bad filmmaker.

“First we cast Hamza Ali Abbasi. Then we made the movie extremely cheesy. Really jacked up the whole love angle and made everything pivot around that rather than it being one aspect of a complex yet accessible cinematic experience.”

“I mean, I don’t mean to brag, but I think I was the perfect person to make a movie that is basically Top Gun told from the perspective of someone who is bad at filmmaking” he ended.
