ISLAMABAD: A major development has surfaced regarding the request to shut down the X account of PTI founder Imran Khan.
The Superintendent of Adiala Jail has submitted a detailed response to the Islamabad High Court, stating that the impression that Imran Khan’s X account is being operated from inside the jail is incorrect. Jail authorities said all such speculation is baseless.
In his response, the superintendent clarified that Imran Khan is under strict surveillance in prison, and there is no possibility of him possessing a mobile phone or any prohibited device.
The reply submitted to the High Court further states that no prohibited item, including mobile phones, is allowed under jail rules, and mobile signal jammers are installed inside Adiala Jail, due to which all mobile signals inside and around the jail remain completely blocked.
The superintendent added that Imran Khan and the staff assigned to him are searched regularly, making access to any prohibited facility impossible. Under Jail Rule 265, the PTI founder is also barred from political discussions. However, during jail trial meetings, his family members and lawyers sometimes engage in political discussions in violation of the rules.
The superintendent stated that in the past, political instructions allegedly issued by Imran Khan from jail contributed to inciting violence at various times, but his current X account is not being operated from inside the prison.
He explained that the account is being operated from outside, as no mobile or internet facilities exist within the jail. Imran Khan only has access to the facilities permitted strictly under jail rules or court orders.
