Achakzai calls for new social contract, assures Imran Khan seeks no ‘revenge’ if constitution restored

ISLAMABAD: Opposition alliance Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan (TTAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai has called on all political parties to sign a new social contract aimed at restoring constitutional rule, saying PTI founder Imran Khan “will not take action against anyone” if the Constitution is fully upheld.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Imran Khan’s sisters, Achakzai said a misleading narrative had been built that “one man is a rebel who must be subdued,” insisting that the struggle was not about an individual but about the rights of 250 million citizens.

He alleged that the incumbent government “came into power through wealth and force,” claiming that people were harassed inside their homes and their privacy violated — actions he described as criminal. Calling resistance against oppression “a form of Jihad,” he said the movement draws strength from faith, adding, “Allah is with the oppressed and He will hold everyone accountable.”

Achakzai further claimed that powerful figures had managed to obtain relief in nearly 9,000 cases and were seeking additional concessions. “We have raised the banner of resistance,” he said, expressing hope that constitutional supremacy would eventually be restored.

The TTAP chief urged state institutions to operate strictly within their constitutional boundaries and appealed to political parties to endorse a unified contract for upholding the Constitution. “I will secure the PTI founder’s signature, and I assure you Imran Khan will not move against anyone,” he stated.

He added that the opposition had no personal enmity with any “general, Sharif or Zardari,” saying their sole objective was to establish a fair social contract that allows Pakistan to function as a constitutional state. “We are not seeking power. Just return our Constitution to us,” he concluded.
