LAHORE: Students and parents in Lahore are expressing growing anger after the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education restricted all fee payments to the Habib Bank Limited app and physical branches, creating hurdles for those without HBL access.
Under the new arrangement, all payments for forms and fees must be made exclusively through HBL’s online app or in-person services. Other banking channels have been blocked, with Easypaisa remaining the only alternative option.
The shift has caused long delays, with many students reporting they spend hours waiting in queues because they do not hold HBL accounts. Some have described the process as exhausting, saying it can take an entire day to make a payment and another for verification.
Parents have also criticised the policy, calling it unfair to families who are unable or unwilling to use HBL services. They argue that the new system offers convenience to the bank and the board but creates unnecessary hardship for students. Many are urging authorities to restore multiple payment options to ease the bottlenecks.
Despite the widespread backlash, the board has not yet provided any explanation for the change or indicated whether it plans to introduce additional payment methods.
