KARACHI: The bodies of three qawwali singers, killed in a gun attack on a bus in Kalat, Balochistan, were flown to Karachi on Thursday. The attack occurred on Wednesday when the troupe’s bus, en route to Quetta for a performance, was ambushed by terrorists.
The bodies of Muhammad Ahmed Bashir, Muhammad Raza Ahmed, and Muhammad Asif were received by Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani at the cargo terminal of Karachi Airport, where they were accompanied by government officials and the victims’ families. Ghani condemned the attack as a “cowardly act of terrorism” and expressed solidarity with the victims’ families. He confirmed that five other passengers were being treated for injuries in Kalat, while some wounded members of the troupe had returned to Karachi.
The bodies were transferred to the Martin Quarters morgue before being taken to their family residences for burial.
