LAHORE: The National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK) has completed the geo-tagging of trees along a 22.5-kilometre stretch of the Lahore Canal.
On Thursday, NESPAK Managing Director Zargham Ishaq Khan announced that the initiative, part of the Punjab government’s Lahore Yellow Line project, involved using technology to digitally identify and document each tree with precise geospatial coordinates and unique metadata. This information has been integrated into a centralized database.
The geo-tagged dataset will enable localized environmental analysis, real-time monitoring, and serve as a valuable tool for authorities, urban forestry experts, and environmental planners.
