Deputy director dismissed for harassment at Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University

KARACHI: Abdul Rashid Mullah, the deputy director of Finance and Accountant at Lyari’s Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University (BBSUL), has been terminated due to allegations of harassment and misconduct. The university’s inquiry committee made this decision after a detailed investigation into complaints lodged by female students, which revealed unethical conduct on Mullah’s part.

In a statement, the university affirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its students and staff, stressing that all misconduct allegations would be addressed with the utmost seriousness. This dismissal follows Mullah’s earlier suspension in January by the Sindh Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for failing to provide required audit records. The PAC had also ordered an investigation into his alleged involvement in harassment.
