Pakistani man extradited from Canada for plotting attack on Jews in New York

NEW YORK: A Pakistani man, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, was extradited from Canada to the United States on Tuesday to face charges of planning an attack on a Jewish center in Brooklyn, New York.

Khan, 20, was arrested in Canada in September. He is accused of attempting to carry out a mass shooting in support of the Islamic State (IS) on the anniversary of the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. According to the U.S. Justice Department, Khan planned to use automatic weapons to kill as many Jewish community members as possible. The plot was uncovered during conversations between Khan and undercover law enforcement officers posing as co-conspirators. Khan was arrested near the U.S.-Canada border in Ormstown, Canada.
