Punjab University Announces Revised Exam Schedule After Pakistan-India Tensions

Punjab University has announced a revised schedule for exams that were previously postponed due to the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India.

The university’s official notification revealed that the Associate Degree exams in Arts, Science, and Commerce, originally set for May 9 and May 10, will now take place on Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15. Additionally, exams for Special Category papers will follow the same dates.

The written exams for the BBA (Hons) program have also been rescheduled. These papers will now occur on Thursday, May 15, and Friday, May 16.

Practical exams for the BFA programs in Graphic Design and Textile Design are now set for Monday, May 19, and Tuesday, May 20.

The university confirmed that the venues and timings for all rescheduled exams remain unchanged.

In related developments, public and private educational institutions across Punjab reopened on Monday, May 12, after a temporary shutdown following the heightened security concerns caused by the Pakistan-India conflict.

The closures had been enforced on May 7 after Indian missile and drone attacks targeted multiple locations in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), leading the provincial education department to suspend academic activities as a precautionary measure.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed the reopening in a statement, attributing the decision to improved security conditions. “The safety of students and staff remains our top priority. With the situation stabilised, schools and colleges will resume as scheduled,” he said.

The conflict had also led to disruptions in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) examinations, which were postponed in Lahore, Multan, and other regions. Scheduled papers, including Quran translation, ethics, mathematics, biology, and practical exams, have been rescheduled.
