Man acquitted after killing three sisters as parents withdraw case

MUZAFFARGARH: A district and sessions court in Muzaffargarh has acquitted Abdul Basit, who had been charged with murdering his three minor sisters in Thermal Colony. The court ordered his immediate release following the withdrawal of the case.

According to the police, the incident took place on July 18, 2023, when Basit brutally killed his sisters, identified as seven-year-old Abhi Fatima, eight-year-old Zohra, and 11-year-old Arisha. Their bodies were discovered in a quarter near their home.

Following his arrest, Abdul Basit confessed to the crime. However, the parents of the deceased later pardoned their son and filed a settlement petition in court, requesting the withdrawal of the case.

The court subsequently accepted the petition and ordered Basit’s release.
