PTI Islamabad president arrested ahead of scheduled rally

ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Islamabad chapter president Amir Mughal was arrested outside the DC office in Islamabad, as announced by his counsel Asim Baig on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

This arrest comes just before the PTI’s planned power show in the federal capital, scheduled for July 6 at Tarnol Chowk.

Previously, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had granted bail to Amir Masood Mughal, another PTI leader who faced terrorism charges at the Karachi Company police station.

The Islamabad district administration had earlier permitted PTI to conduct its rally, a decision upheld by the Islamabad High Court. Justice Babar Satar, dismissing a related petition by Amir Masood Mughal, confirmed the event’s approval, advising the party to proceed without further issues. During the court proceedings, PTI’s lawyer Shoaib Shaheen raised concerns about inadequate preparation time for the rally, but Justice Satar remarked that the party was sufficiently large to manage the event’s preparations promptly.
