Minister urges public to protect planet and build sustainable future

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Climate Change Senator Sherry Rehman has called on the public to take action to protect the planet and work towards a more sustainable future on Eid ul-Fitr and World Earth Day.

Senator Rehman took to Twitter to extend Eid greetings to the nation and shared her thoughts on the importance of the day celebrated across the globe under the theme ‘Invest in Our Planet’.

In a series of tweets, Senator Rehman emphasised that climate change was a global crisis directly affecting our planet and lives. She said the world needs to prioritise investing in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, elimination of plastic, climate-friendly lifestyles, and forests to protect the earth from unprecedented environmental challenges, including climate change and other environmental threats.

Senator Rehman underlined that the indiscriminate use of land resources was causing pollution and other environmental problems, making it essential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, preserve biodiversity and reduce other environmental impacts.

The minister stressed the need to work together for a green and healthy earth and Pakistan.
